Porsche Lëtzebuerg Legacy
Concept
On the occasion of Porsche Luxembourg’s 75th anniversary, a unique concept of the 911 GT3 with Touring Package was developed in collaboration with experts from Porsche Luxembourg, the Luxemburgish artist Jacques Schneider, Style Porsche and the Sonderwunsch team in Zuffenhausen. The result of the shared expertise and passion of the teams is reflected in all the emotions and thoughts that went into this special kind of art.
This project embodies the meeting between Porsche’s automotive heritage and Luxembourg’s cultural identity. The idea was to create something aesthetic and harmonious like Porsche’s design language, without appearing intrusive, reflecting the character of Luxembourg. Moreover, to create products and details that have never been available before and go beyond the existing catalogue.
Porsche Luxembourg, official importer of the brand since 1950, is operated by the Losch Group, an important key figure in the mobility sector in the Grand Duchy. Due to its history, Losch has been committed for decades to promoting automotive excellence while simultaneously supporting locally rooted cultural and artistic initiatives. The collaboration reflects this endeavor to connect innovation and tradition by building a bridge between technology, design and contemporary creation. The artist Jacques Schneider, known for his work on collective memory and national symbols, has designed exclusive graphic elements integrated into the vehicle. With the Sonderwunsch program, the car becomes a rolling artwork that combines exceptional craftsmanship, performance, and artistic expression.
The vehicle received its unique finishing touches in the Sonderwunsch Manufaktur in Zuffenhausen. All details are handcrafted carefully.
Interior Concept
Interior: Map of Luxembourg in the roof lining
“Where the Alzette flows through the meadows, where the Sauer breaks through the rocks. Where the vine blooms fragrantly along the Moselle, the sky gives us wine. This is our land, for which we down here would dare everything. Our homeland, which we carry so deeply in our hearts, “are the opening lines of the Grand Duchy’s national anthem, written in Luxembourgish by Michel Lentz in 1859. Together with the outline of the country, this text beginning is embroidered into the Race-Tex roof lining. A special embroidery machine was used and programmed for this. The national anthem is executed in Jacques Schneider’s handwriting, Additionally, the artist marked individual places important to him with crosses.
This elaborate embroidery of the roof lining is a highlight of this project and also represents a premiere in the history of the Sonderwunsch programme. The same applies to the seat center at the front and rear, door center panels, and the lid of the storage compartment in the center console, all subtly printed with the lion graphic in Graphite Grey.
The different lions hat to be individually processed in advance and according to the artistic specifications, combined with the transparent background into a repeat pattern, i.e., a pattern with recurring motifs. Afterwards, the leather was customized using a roll printing process. The surface is sealed and thus protected against abrasion.
The Backrests decorative inlays of the 18-way Sport Seats are made of brushed black aluminum and refined with a white “VIVE” lettering for the first time.
The door sill guards are also made of brushed black aluminum. Unique is the illuminated “Porsche Lëtzebuerg” lettering in Jacques Schneider’s handwriting. The pedals and footrest are made of aluminum. For the first time, the accelerator pedal is finished in Fire Red, corresponding with the color accents on the exterior.
Exterior Concept
Exterior: Elaborate design paintwork with lion graphic
With more than 700 hours of work, the design paintwork of the “Porsche Lëtzebuerg Legacy” project is the most elaborate realized so far within the Sonderwunsch programme. On the paint in Ice Gray Metallic, the painters applied a fine lion graphic in Fire Red by hand. To implement such a complex graphic due to the overlapping lions, a multitude of manufacturing steps were necessary. The pattern adorns the front hood, fenders, doors, side panels, fuel cap, rear spoiler and the roof of the vehicle. The exterior colors Ice Gray Metallic has a slight blue tint and the combination with Fire Red is a reference to the Luxembourg flag.
Process steps: The vehicle receives the base coat in the base colors Ice Gray Metallic during the series process. The artist’s design graphic is adapted into data for the real vehicle in its assembled state. Masking films are created from this design data, which are then plotted and weeded in preparation. Before these can be transferred onto the components in their installation position using transfer film, the body and attachment parts are disassembled, prepared for the next painting step, and reassembled. Afterwards, the components are disassembled again to hand-paint the Fire Red color, dry the components, and remove the masking film. The vehicle is then reassembled to check the transitions and overall appearance. Further process steps follow, such as several intermediate sanding and clear coat layers, drying steps, and polishing work required until the painting work is completed.
